A few hours left to go..........

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

There's only a few hours left in 2009.... Bill and I are spending a quiet night just the two of us or rather just the four of us. As I am beginning to prepare dinner for us, the brothers are both napping. Jackson is beside  Bill on the sofa and Jake is in my favorite wing chair. They are pooped! They played hard this afternoon.

As I am thawing shrimp for dinner, I have a few minutes to ponder about the new year....Did y'all remember that we are starting a new decade?? Today, I played catch up on reading some of my favorite blogs....I have read some wonderful thoughts about resolutions and expectations for the new year. There's so much that we all can look forward to. Hopefully, we can all look back in a few months and be pleased that we are fulfilling our plans and dreams for 2010.

I also want to share one of my favorite gifts for Christmas this year, (not counting the kittys). I think Bill did a fabulous job of choosing something for me. I never really gave him a list or anything, but I had commented that I really liked the idea of this bench. I had one years ago when we lived in Chicago, but when we moved to Greensboro in 1991, I sold most of my beloved handmade prims. Our house  just wasn't suited for them. It was a 3 story Traditional Colonial that was way too prissy! So, I parted with a lot my special pieces. One that I always have regretted was a bench similiar to this. It was made from old barnwood as well, but not painted like this one.

Don't you love the way it is assembled? No nails, no glue, no tools, just four wood wedges! I think this is the coolest idea!

Last Wednesday of 2009..........

I would like to wish everyone a belated MERRY CHRISTMAS! and a Blessed 2010!

As I am taking down my decorations, I feel it's time for an update!

I have a few things that I want to share with you all....including these little cuties that were a part of mine and Bill's Christmas to each other. They have already carved out a little space in my heart. I wasn't sure that I would ever be ready for another kitty, but we went to the local shelter and found these two little brothers that needed us as much as we needed them. Jake is larger one with more white and Jackson is the little guy with wild yellow eyes. I think they loved us from the first time we held them and I know Bill fell in love the first time Jackson crawled on to his shoulder and purred!

They're sitting on Bill's printer at his computer desk. They love spending time with him.

Here is a shot of them looking out at Bill! They love laying in the afternoon sun  that comes in my Dining Room bay window.

Snow is on the way........................

We are gearing up for the big SNOWSTORM in K-ville that is supposedly coming today and tomorrow. They have already canceled school for the afternoon and most of the activities for this evening. I think we could get up to 8 inches here. (Personally, I hope we don't. Most of the time, we loose power and it's just a mess.) A little bit would be nice tho. Especially since Christmas is so close. Maybe it would put me in a festive mood. I have been feeling a little Scroogish! I have almost finished my shopping, but that's about it. I'm planning to make fudge and few other goodies on Sunday. We'll see..............

I have this one stocking door greeter left that I thought I would try to sell here. The other goodies went quickly, so what the hay??? I'll try it and see what happens.....

Feeling sooooo SAD....

I have sat down here so many times over the past couple of weeks to make a post....couldn't seem to find the words to say what I needed to say. We have lost our beloved Rufie Cat...he passed away in November. I feel like a part of my heart has been ripped out. Some days I can't stop the tears and other days, I think it must be a dream. He can't possibly be gone. It was very sudden and totally took us by surprise. Literally one minute he was fine and the next he was moaning in pain. I immediately knew that something was wrong and in 10 minutes or less we were on our way to the emergency vet's office. Unfortunately, he had a mass rupture in his abdomen and there was nothing that could be done. He was gone in less than an hour after he got sick. I couldn't believe it!!! Still can't sometimes....he was such a major part of my life. And I miss him terribly!

My daughter Cait, wrote this the day he died.....

Today, I lost a dear friend/brother/pet... Rufie, my baby kitty, was put down. He was my first kitten, and truly such an awesome little guy. I will never ever forget the first time I saw him, from that first moment, I was in love with this little black and white spitfire that could not decide if he hated me or loved me.... You will be missed so much Rufie, not only by me, and I really hope that your heaven has an always full bowl of friskies and bacon on the weekends. I love you buddy, and thank you for giving us seven years. Rest in peace.

These were the last pics that I took of him........ they're not very good, but that's ok, this is how he was. He was such a big boy...even the vet commented on his size. He was sitting in the chair watching me stitch pillow tops. He was always, always, always close by to me. And I never felt alone, until now...

I have been working on this for hours and have had all kinds of computer problems, but I wanted y'all to know what happened to me.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS and I have missed you all!

Hugs,
Shari
