Tuesday afternoon...

What an amazing response!! I can hardly believe all the comments and emails that I received about Retha. The folks in blogland have got to be the best of the best out there! Whether you knew her not, you cared enough to send thoughts and prayers. Thank you all for that.....

As I have been trying to keep myself busy these days, I have been cleaning out a few drawers and cupboards. Nevermind that it really needed to be done...I was making sure that I hadn't stashed receipts and anything else that I might need for my dreaded taxes. (Yes, I am still working on them...promised myself that I would a bit every day until I'm finished)  But, anyway it's amazing what you can find.

Have I ever mentioned that Deb and I used to do home parties with our handmade goodies??? That's a story for another day. But, anyway one of our bestest and dearest customers was a gal named Gail. She was an absolute hoot and almost addicted to our prim wares! She loved everything! We were there one Fall, Saturday afternoon doing a party and her house smelled so warm and cozy, you didn't want to leave.( Long story short, I found this recipe tucked in a drawer from all those years ago.) This is what she was cookin'.....

FRESH POTPOURRI
2 oranges, cut into slices
2 lemons, cut into slices
2 tsp. cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
3 bay leaves

Combine in crock pot with water and simmer.

SMELLS WONDERFUL!!

the loss of a dear friend.............

I have tried several different times to find the words to make this post. I have pondered back and forth as to what I should say and finally decided on this.

Some of you already know that we have lost a beloved friend and fellow blogger...... Retha, from A Window To The Past Blog and (the now closed web site) Cinnamon Creek Primitives was murdered this week.

I can't find the words to describe how I feel. Such a huge shock for all of us who knew her. Her husband has been charged and is in jail with no bond. She was a dear friend that Deb (Carolina Peddler) and I shared a booth with last year in Greensboro. Plus it was more than that, we were friends. I'll never forget her ringing my doorbell with arms full of projects and that dang bottle of Diet Mountain Dew she always carried with her. She used to come over often and we would "craft" together, work on our sites together and share ideas. I hadn't seen much of her in the past year, as she had gone back to school to be a nurse. But we talked on the phone when she had time. It seemed to me as if she was finally getting what she wanted out of life and the last couple of times we spoke she was happy with how things were going.

There's not anything more that I can say... but I will miss her terribly.

Bye Retha, until we meet again .......................

Beautiful 1st Saturday of Spring....

It's been an absolutely beautiful first day of Spring here in NC. I hope you all are able to enjoy it. Hubby and I went up to Pilot Mountain today and it was such a nice drive. Signs of spring were everywhere! Didn't take my camera, but I should have.....

Took a few things up there for my booth...at Pilot Mountain Peddlers

Wish I would've taken a before picture. This was a pale aqua blue color. I sanded it first, painted it black, sanded it again and antiqued it. I also added the peg to the side and three pegs at the bottom that you can't see (after the picture is made smaller to fit). Turned out GREAT! Kinda wish I had somewhere to put it.
Also took more folk art flowers...

and a few more items that I didn't take pictures of.
We stopped at a little cafe on the way back to have lunch. Don't remember the name, but it was pretty good. We just had sandwiches and fries, but enjoyed it. Everyone there was so friendly.

~~~~~~~~~~
A few other goodies  that I have been working on this week...along with lots of bonnets, carrots, dolls and pillows.
Painted tulips were a special order. But I made extras to put on my web site.
They look fabulous in my pottery vase. Don't ya think?
One of a kind Kitty is going to my web site.
Another special order...grungy chick
One of my first attempts at a mouse...this was made for a friend....
Etsy order....
Wish I could remember to take more pics. I am usually in such a hurry to get things finished, packed and shipped....I just forget.
There's a few more things I need to get finished today, so I'm gonna run for now.
HAPPY SPRING!
I fully intended to get back here yesterday, but we had such a nice time doing errands that I just didn't have a chance. Among other places we went to JoAnn's and Michael's where I ran into two old friends. We had some catching up to do and I really enjoyed our visit. I feel so blessed to be able to stay home and do what I love, but sometimes I do miss getting out and seeing people.....
busy, busy, busy..........
Am I the only one who feels like time is flying by??? Is it my age or what??? Another week has gone by and I've hardly had time to peek at blogs and it's been almost a week since I have posted.
All week long I had intended to post about the Spring Open House at Pilot Mountain Peddlers. It started yesterday at 4:00 and I guess it goes on through today at close. I took a load of goodies up there yesterday...the first time I had been there since late January.
 With the weather and just being busy, I haven't had much of a chance to get there. I have come up with a good plan, however.....when I make something for my web site or an order, I make at least two now! That way, I have "extra stuff" made up at any given time. I should have been doing this all along, but just didn't.
Here's a couple of my favorites for this week......
Old quilt top bunny....
Painted bunny on spindle....
Small shelf to sit or hang...
Think I'll put this on Etsy as a gathering....
Changed this up a bit and added it to my web site....
I love these grungy calico carrots....
These are some of the orders for this week....
Gotta run for now......
Warm and Sunny Sunday......
It was a beautiful, Spring-like day in the piedmont section of North Carolina on this first Sunday of March. I didn't feel much like going out, but it is supposed to be nice again tomorrow. Maybe I can work in the garage, before the rains come in on Tuesday.
I had several projects that I wanted to finish up this weekend, but that didn't happen...maybe some time this week, if it stays warm. I can't tolerate the cold temps in my older years. LOL!! Thinkin' maybe I should move to a warmer climate.....
~~~~~~~~~~

I never got around to posting last weeks web site special because of all the computer problems that I was having. So I wanted to make sure that I got this done, even if the rest had to wait. It has worked really well today, no cutoffs, no re-boots, no lock-ups....UNTIL I started blogging! Grrrr!! Makes me so angry! And of course it won't do it when Bill can see the error message. But, anyway, here I am and hope to at least post a few pictures.

~~~~~~~~~~~
This week's Web Site Special:
S/O Prim Cat.....
Star Chalkboard.......
Prim Eme Lou's.....
Blogger is acting up again.....post more later...
For the folks that asked about the kittys....nothing real serious. Jake had a gunky eye one evening and then the next day, he had like a swollen lymp node. As for Jackson, he's had the sneezies for a while. I joke that I think he's allergic to me! I called the vet and they actually know Jake by name...how funny is that. They kinda make fun of me, because I am so paranoid about them being sick. I made Bill take him this time...the last couple of visits I have been there with him, (they told me), he was just real laid back and the last time, he's just lazy. This visit, the vet prescribed antibiotics for both. It smells like bananas and they both like it . The receptionist described it as the most expensive hair conditioner on the market....I asked why?? She said most of it usually ends up in your hair. Ha ha!
Well, I have been trying to finish this up for awhile now, so maybe I can get it to work! Fingers crossed!
Thanks for all the entries today for the March Giveaway!
Hugs,
Shari
