the loss of a dear friend.............

I have tried several different times to find the words to make this post. I have pondered back and forth as to what I should say and finally decided on this.

Some of you already know that we have lost a beloved friend and fellow blogger...... Retha, from A Window To The Past Blog and (the now closed web site) Cinnamon Creek Primitives was murdered this week.

I can't find the words to describe how I feel. Such a huge shock for all of us who knew her. Her husband has been charged and is in jail with no bond. She was a dear friend that Deb (Carolina Peddler) and I shared a booth with last year in Greensboro. Plus it was more than that, we were friends. I'll never forget her ringing my doorbell with arms full of projects and that dang bottle of Diet Mountain Dew she always carried with her. She used to come over often and we would "craft" together, work on our sites together and share ideas. I hadn't seen much of her in the past year, as she had gone back to school to be a nurse. But we talked on the phone when she had time. It seemed to me as if she was finally getting what she wanted out of life and the last couple of times we spoke she was happy with how things were going.

There's not anything more that I can say... but I will miss her terribly.

Bye Retha, until we meet again .......................

It is really such a small world. My friend and I live in Okinawa Japan. She and Retha were friends as well. She had not heard from here in awhile, since shortly after she went back to nursing school. I came upon your blog tonight and read your post. It sent chills down my spine! I called her right away. She has emails from Retha about her issues she was having with her husband. I wont go into detail. You might already know. I have told her she might want to turn them over to the authorities in N.C. I am so sorry about your loss. It is such a deeply sad thing to loose a dear friend. You and Retha's family will be in my prayers. May she rest in peace. God Bless You, Brandi

Hi Shari~

Retha "commissioned" you to make some prim wooden stars and pumpkins for me a few years ago. I met her through her old website Cinnamon Creek Primitives and we got to talking on my 1st order and became fast phone pals. We would talk several times a month for hours~ God she cracked me up about her puppy and how she ruled the roost~ Her Christmas tree still up in the middle of June....I believe she was even talking about a contest to see who would come the closest on when it was going to be taken down.

I know she got extremely busy within the past year with her school. She was so proud of herself....like a kid on a new adventure. I still cannot believe that this has happened. I don't understand it. I look all over my house and I have dozens of things that she made that remind me of her. I will miss her and I pray you find peace and believe that she is in God's arms. God Bless~~Colleen~
