Web Site Special....

Happy Memorial Weekend!

 I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. We had a beautiful day on Saturday with no thunderstorms or rain. Bill and I went to Winston-Salem to do a little shopping. We are looking for new rugs to go in the master bathroom. We didn't find what we were looking for, but hopefully, we can find some that Mr. Jake and Jackson won't pick at. They have thoroughly enjoyed chewing and playing with the binding and fluffy fibers on the old ones.
I went to AC MOORE looking for a few things, but ended up getting only a few bottles of paint. Before heading home, we had lunch at Red Lobster. It was really good....I haven't been there in quite a while and they had changed their menu. They didn't offer the broiled platter that I usually get, so I had popcorn shrimp instead. Not usually my favorite, but a good choice for me. The best part (I think) is their garlic biscuits! I love, love, love them and actually ate two which I hardly ever do.
~~~~~~~~~~~
This morning we are heading over to the Burlington area to meet Bill's Mom for a late breakfast. I haven't seen her in a long time. We don't get over there as often as we should. And I should probably get off here and get ready to go.
Wanted to let y'all know the special of the week at my web site is:
Grungy Board with Nails
Only $5.49 ea.
You can find it here:
Plus all the featured items are sale too!
Enjoy your day!
Americana Bird Makedo
That's about it for now.........
Sunny Wednesday Morning............
First of all, this was supposed to be posted this morning, but I got interrupted and this has been the first chance I've had to get back here.........so keep in mind it's after 10:00 pm now.
I think it is going to be a beautiful Wednesday( it was actually a very warm day)..........the sun is out, temps are in the 70's ( it's only 8:30 ) and the birds seem to be very excited about something. They have been singing their hearts out since way early this morning.
~~~~~~~~~~

Well, I finally did IT!! The IT meaning Facebook! I decided the other day that maybe it would be another way to promote my business and have some fun to boot. Now, I really understand why some folks just don't like it. It seems very complicated to me.  I realize that everything is somewhat difficult until you get the hang of it and I 'm always telling my sister that no one was born having computer skills. ( Unless, it was my youngest daughter, LOL! She has always been able to figure out almost anything.)
 But, anyway, I think it's gonna take me awhile to understand the concept of Facebook. In the meanwhile, if anyone has any helpful hints, it would be greatly appreciated!

~~~~~~~~~~
This is the third official day of Hubby's vacation in May. I guess the good news is that I haven't killed him yet. You know I am always busy doing something...whether it be crafting, cooking or cleaning. Just not the kind of person to sit around watching TV and eating bon bons. For the life of me, I can't understand how you can have 24 hours in a day and not accomplish hardly anything.
Okay, enough of that...I am finishing up a couple of orders this morning and then heading out to the garage and make some new prim, wood items. I have been thinking about a few things, so while the weather is nice, I'm going to attempt them.
That was as far as I got this morning with this post. It ended up being a very busy hectic day. We went to brunch, the grocery store , and even worked in the yard. Straightened up in my craft room and the garage too! I did finish up several orders and actually got them to post office and UPS... But then......the battery died on my car while we were at UPS. ( or at least I'm hoping it was only the battery) So thankful that Bill was with me. He got it started and we headed over to Wilson's Tire Shop to get a new battery. They didn't have what we needed, but ordered us one and it will be there for us tomorrow. Mary and Gary are the absolute nicest folks! He has the tire shop and Mary has Down Home Country Store. We try to frequent all the little Mom and Pop stores that we can...and I ALWAYS go to Gary for tires and such. You just can't beat the service. To make a long story short, my point was, please remember Mary and Gary in your thoughts and prayers. and I'll leave it at that...
~~~~~~~~~~
 I bought some new patterns yesterday and today! Just finished up a Prairie bird....can't wait for y'all to see it. It's too dark to take pics, but maybe tomororow!
I'm off to get ready for bed....
Until next time.
Hugs,
Shari

not a Holiday Monday...............

It kinda seems like a holiday around here......I can't seem to stay on focused on anything long enough to get a days work done.  I have worked on orders all day, but haven't got much ready to ship. Today is one of those days when I keep making up excuses why I can't do this or that. Maybe it's the weather...it's been chilly, sunny, rainy and even windy here, not good for a Monday...........
~~~~~~~~~~
I had several inquiries about the Gooseberry Patch Books that I mentioned in an earlier post. These are what I have left.
These are all softcover. (Sorry, Gina I made a mistake when I described them to you).
Price is $ 4.75 ea. plus shipping
If you're interested send me your zip and I'll figure shipping for you.
~~~~~~~~~~
I made these last week and love how they turned out!!

I made these for a new customer! It was hard parting with the sunflowers. They are sooo cool in a vase or basket.
~~~~~~~~~~
Here's a few things that I have re-done for myself.
This is before:
This is after:
This is after I decided what I was doing with it....
~~~~~~~~~~~

Another re-do:
Most of y'all know how much I love bread boards and cutting boards or any kind of board....
so I am always on the look-out for something new to do. This is what I came up with for a round pizza board.
Before:
After:
I painted it a deep burgandy, added the lattice strips with black tacks and then antiqued it. Love it mixed in with all my other boards.

Another re-dothat I took to Pilot Mountain....

It was unfinished to start with...

Well, it's about time for dinner, so I'm gonna run for now......

Hugs,
Shari

dreary Sunday.............

I woke up to more rain this morning. (at o-dark 30)......I hope it's not going to be like this all day. There's several things that I need to do get done this weekend and it's easier if it's not raining.
~~~~~~~~~~
I have been thinking for days that tomorrow is a Holiday! Boy, was I a little embarrassed when I finally realized that next Monday is the holiday! Is that a senior moment or what???????? LOL!! I think my husband being on vacation is what did it. He is off all this coming week, plus next Monday! Do ya think it's gonna be a long week or what?
~~~~~~~~~

Saturday morning..........

As I'm sitting here drinking coffee I am thinking about a new TV show that I watched last night. I find that I really don't watch tv much before 10:00, so most of my favorite shows are after that.This show was Miami Medical on CBS . I thought it was a show with a wonderful cast that I hardly recognize (anyone). They seem to work well together.
While I have TV on the brain...are any of you Grey's Anatomy watchers? I'm not a huge fan, but their season finale was a 2 hour event on Thursday. I must say that it was one of the best I've seen in a while. Can't wait to see how everything turns out in the new season.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm wondering if anyone has been to Mexico lately or to Riviera Maya at all???? We have a trip coming up in late July to the 5 star resort. I have to say I'm a little apprehensive about it. There is SOOOO much bad press about Mexico these days....any thoughts???? In all our years we have never been to an all-inclusive  resort of this magnitude. Would love to hear from someone that has been....
~~~~~~~~~~
I'm sitting here watching Martha Stewart on Hallmark....she's comparing Olive Oils. Really pretty interesting facts. We just started using olive oil in the past couple of years. We have discovered that squash and zuchhini drizzled with olive oil and garlic pepper is FABULOUS cooked on the grill. I used to love fried squash, but this is so much tastier and healthier, I think. We will be cooking out on the grill a lot this coming week, as my hubby is on vacation, AGAIN! (It seems as if he off at least a week every month or so.)
~~~~~~~~~~
I have been thinking about doing more items with the look of olde and early. Don't ya just love that phrase??? I find that I have been selling more and more of the Reproduction Colonial style
items, including the bonnets, scallop top peg boards, grungy towels to hang, simple bread boards and such. I am actually working on a big bowl rack for my sister today. I have had it started for awhile and just haven't gotten around to finishing it. Until now.....
I am basing hers on mine. I love the details with the scallop sides.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I have more pictures from last week, but this is one of my new favorites.
I finished this up the other day and got it on my web site.

I love the Simplicity of it. You could stick him in a crock or lean him against a tree or fence. I could put a wire on the back for hanging and use him almost anywhere.
~~~~~~~~~~
I'll be back soon....
Hugs,
Shari
Wednesday evening.........
I want to thank everyone for their sweet comments and emails about my root canal. I am so relieved that it is over. I had a great Dr. and absolutely no pain whatsoever!!! The worst part of it all, was in the corners of my mouth, my lips got chapped and sore. And that was pretty much it. My jaw is a little sore from having to keep my mouth open...dr. said I have a little mouth! Can you imagine???? Another thing I found out, I need just a crown on the tooth that I chipped. Not another root canal! I am pretty relieved over that.
~~~~~~~~~~
Anyone out there interested in doing a swap with me? I think it would be fun. I am really wanting a couple of braided rugs, and I know there must be someone out there willing to part with a couple. To make it fair...retail to retail or wholesale to wholesale, you pick. If you're interested email:

~~~~~~~~~~
I wanted to share a few pics of what I've been working on. Still have trouble remembering to take pics of everything before I ship. But here's a few....
Almost done.........
These were all orders......
I need to upload some more pics from my camera. I'll have more to share, plus more supplies......
Until then,
Hugs and Blessings to all,
Shari
early Tuesday morning...........
HAPPY TUESDAY!
After having a cold, rainy, Winterlike Monday, I am looking forward to sunshine today or at least soon. We really needed some rain, but maybe not this much in such a short time. I know it could be much worse, as it has been in some areas around us.
But, on to why I'm here so early. Today is the big day! I'm going to see if I can get a root canal. (Not a big deal, huh?) Y'all remember a few weeks ago,  when I tripped over Jake and broke one tooth and cracked another??? It has taken me this long to get it fixed. I'm hoping I don't freak out.....Keep me (and the Dr.) in your thoughts....
I'll be back later with more pics.
Thanks to all that have purchased from my blog and a special Thank you to all that have signed up for the May giveaway! It is truly astonishing to me all the folks that are interested!! Keep the emails and comments  coming---Might be the most yet to enter!
Hugs,
Shari
