Another rainy day in K-ville........

GOOD MORNING!

I woke up bright and early on this first Tuesday of October to another morning of pouring rain...

can you see the little birdbath is full....everything is sooo green tho. Talk about green....take a look at the grass in my back yard.

 

Here's what's left of our garden. We still have one pepper plant along with some radishes and winter lettuce. Hubby just threw out seeds in there a couple of weeks ago and  we already have little leaves popping up.

I have had several special orders lately that I would like to share. These are 2 of my favorites:

 

 

 

This is a huge piece at over 24 inches wide and 12 inches tall and about 8 inches deep. It would be a great piece to use on top of a side table.

Rainy Monday....

My (way too short) weekend is over and I am back to work on this cloudy, rainy Monday. It would be a great day to curl up in bed with coffee and a good book. But I have too much to do today and must get busy ASAP.
Hubby and I made this and have decided to offer them on my web site. There is a story behind it....we were out and about one Sunday afternoon awhile back and happened across this barn where folks were having a "Barn Sale". We had found a few things to purchase, but nothing that really knocked my socks off. I saw a box hanging on the wall that I loved at first site. The really nice gentleman didn't want to sell it, but he insisted that I copy it. He called his a "Grain Scoop Holder". This is my version of it. Love how it turned out!!!!

Rainy Saturday and Sunday Special....

After spending almost all of yesterday at home, I am ready to get out of the house today. It has rained and rained and rained here. There's a few errands I need to do, including getting some wood and muslin for a few projects. I think we'll do that after breakfast. We are STILL going out every weekend, it's like "our date". Sometimes, I do get tired of it, but we have a great little diner we go to all the time.

My foot is still in the cast after 14 weeks!!!!GRRRRR! I'm supposed to be out of it by Wednesday, but I don't think that's happenening. I have been walking for short periods without my "BOOT", but I am no where ready to walk out in public without it. I am beginning to feel like a wimp...it's been way too long. My independence has disappeared and I've become way too dependent on hubby for things I never thought I would. I must say tho, he has been a huge help to me and he never complains! But, we are both anxious for me to get back to normal.

Is everyone all decorated for FALL? I personally haven't done anything....I might do the porch this week. It's so much work for me to pack up things, just to decorate. I find that year after year I do less and less. It was so much fun when the kids were little and we really celebrated the Seasons, but it's just not the same anymore. Anyone else feel like this? Am I getting old?

Another 1st of the month.......

It's already September 1st and I hardly know what happened to August......I have been in this cast for 9 weeks now and my foot isn't healing. The Dr. told me on Friday that it's in a REALLY hard place to heal and not getting the proper blood supply to mend, whatever that means???? Got to have a cat (?spelling) scan to find out what's going on. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer, as this is getting a bit tiresome. Trying not to complain, but that's even hard these days!
Is everyone decorating for Fall? I'm not doing much this year, maybe just outside. Too much trouble and effort in my older years to pack up "stuff" to make room for Fall and climb up in the attic for the Seasonal tubs. Hmmm, maybe next year. I have made several things for Fall including these items.

Saturday morning....

I started a post the other day and never got back to finish it. I'm going to try now. Here's a few more pictures...

this was the volcano activity we saw.............rather disappointing! We were supposed to see a volcano from a distance. Not what we thought...this is volcano activity.

Can't seem to load any more pics, so I suppose I'll just tell you about it. The first day we arrived it was wonderful! We saw some old friends and went to a pool side reception with lots of different and interesting foods. This is the only time that I ever try foods that I'm not sure what they are, LOL!! Sometimes, I can find something that I really like and sometimes I end up eating octopus or something really weird! Nothing that night really struck my fancy, but I didn't go away hungry!

The second morning we got up bright and early to go on a nature walk to see the volcanao from a distance and see animals, flowers, trees and such along the way. After the 1 and 1/2 hour bus ride, we discovered it was not exactly a  nature walk. No nice trails like we have always been used to...but what do you do? Out in the middle of the jungle, hot as can be and no where to wait. NOT even a real bathroom!! So anyhow, I decided this will still be fun. About a mile into the walk, I slip on a log going over the river and the fun comes to an immediate stop....I'm fine ( I think) so we proceed with the next mile that is absolutely awful. I have to hobble my way through and along the way, some of the folks that are probably half our age start complaining! Too funny!

Well, anyway we finally make it back to the bus. At least it's cool and there's water there! As soon as I sit down, my left foot starts swelling like crazy. By the time we get back to the resort, it hardly looks like a foot at all. At least it's not real painful. I take a few ibuprophen, put some ice on it and take a rest before dinner. Everything goes downhill from there....is it time to go home, yet?

Needless to say, my first (ever) trip to Costa Rica was not the fun I had expected. After we returned home, I went to my doctor and my foot is broken in three different places and I have a boot cast up to my knee. I have bruised ribs (that even now 2 weeks later) are giving me a fit. My right arm has a sprain and a bruise that reaches all the around my elbow. Altho, my arm is healing nicely and the bruise is almost gone. I went to the Dr. at the resort and was told that my foot had a medium sprain....guess it's always good to get a second opinion.

That's my vacation story!

Happy 4th of July!

Is it really 4th of July already? I do hope that everyone is enjoying the holiday!

Where does the time go??? I didn't realize it's been over a month since I have posted here. It's been a very busy Summer around here and I hardly know where to start.........

My oldest daughter, Amity and her family have bought a new home and have already gotten settled in. My youngest daughter Cate is getting married in Aug. Hard to imagine, seems like she should be about 12, instead of 25. I really, really wish the best for both of them and just want them to be happy, cause bottom line, that's all that's really important.

We were on vacation to Costa Rica the later part of June. Such a beautiful place....so lush and green! There were places that looked fake, because they were so green. Here's a few random pics....
