Freezin' Saturday Morning..............

Is it as cold for y'all, as it is here in NC? I have been just about to freeze to death this week. Have tried to stay in as much as possible, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and venture out. A few times out to the grocery store, Walmart, Lowes and the post office. That's about as far as I could make it. Oh, and a couple of trips to the vet with Mr. Jake.

I found out a couple of days ago that (my) Walmart is no longer going to be selling fabric!!! This really stinks to me, as I'm sure it has and does to folks all over the country. We have no where to buy anything fabric related without driving to Winston-Salem or Greensboro. Do any of you know if they will continue to sell fiberfill in the boxes????

I've actually been pretty busy this week working on orders. Dolls seem to be the item of the week....orders for ten on hand right now. That's rather unusual for me. Pillow orders are coming in right along with the dolls. Wood items are a close third....

Question for y'all....do you decorate for Valentine's Day or go right to Spring/Easter? I usually have a few Snowmen out for January, then put out my Valentine goodies a couple of weeks before the Holiday. Do most folks even bother?

I made this cute little handpainted sign with a heart and have already sold one.

So, I think I'll add it to my web site.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday, I added a few things to my Etsy store and will be adding a few more goodies soon. I kinda like the idea of selling on Etsy and on my blog, 'cause you can have control over the shipping charges.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm still having a 20% off sale over at my web site through today, so check that out if you get a chance. And don't forget to keep entering the January Giveaway!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a special request that I was asked to do for a gift. I might offer these on my site as well....hand-painted, not stenciled. This one is purple and white, no antiquing....quite a change for me.
Here's another cutie that I made during Christmas...I think she has the most unique personality! LOL!!
Well, that's about it for now.
Until next time.
Hugs,
Shari
Hi Shari,
I know, doesnt it stink! Our Wal-Mart stopped carring fabric a few months ago. Actually we have 3 stores around here and all three no longer have it. I dont know where I am going to get it from now!!
I only really decorate for fall and Christmas. After Christmas I start putting away all my decorations until next year. But after seeing so many wonderful decorations from everyone, I think I may have to start.
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Hi Shari,
My hubby works for Wal*Mart and he says he wouldn't be surprised if they did away with the craft section all together. Wal*Mart seems to be following Target as far as store layout.
I leave my snowmen out till it's time for spring decor. I don't do much for Valentine's Day. I have a small pencil pine in the dining room that I decorate with hearts and that's about it.
Have a great weekend!
I can maybe give you a little insight to the Walmart thing...I worked there until this past fall. My store went through a remodel over the summer, and that is when they did completely away with the fabric. I now have to drive 40 minutes to the closest fabric store. There is one other WM close that still does have fabric on bolts, but they are starting to pare down. I heard that they will be going through a remodel in the spring. So, it seems to be when the store gets remodeled, they do away with the bolts. My store does sell the boxed fiberfill! so hope that is some consolation :-) Can't beat the price. It also carries a SMALL selection of quiliting quarters...I have only found a few prints that I liked, but they are only 99 cents, so I check every once in awhile to see if they got any new prints in. Good thing that I have a little bit of a fabric stash...I don't have to make the drive too often :-)
Myself, I don't decorate too much for Valentine's Day. I do have one item on my selling blog for it. I usually don't really decorate for much after Christmas until it's time to freshen up the house for Easter/Spring. Love your little signs! Hope orders keep up for you!
Fabric is harder and harder to come by unless you are lucky enough to have a quilt shop close by.
Because hearts were such a fade gone bad, I haven't done too much with them - just a few simple things. But this year, I will use even less. I am really paring down until decorate for Lili when she is older. Luckily, I can do that in our lower level family room which is going to be her play room too.
Hi Shari,
I was excited when I read your post today and saw that you mentioned Winston Salem and Greensboro. Then I read your "about me" section and realized you live in Kernersville. I lived in the Thomasville/High Point area for about 14 years before moving back to my home state of VA in 2007. While it is good to be back home, I do miss NC sometimes! I've signed on to follow your blog. Check mine out if you have a minute. I'd be honored if you would follow me too!
Hugs,
Donna
Shari,
Our Walmart did away with the fabric about a year or so ago, but they still carry the boxes of fiberfil. I hope that they don't get rid of those too as they have the best price in our area.
Hi Shari,
Just love your stuff! Seriously, I am loving the Hot Bath sign you made for me back in the fall. Can't help ya on the Wal Mart thing. I do not sew or craft! lol As for decorating for Valentines Day, the only thing I do is change out the flag outside and I have a heart wreath I hang on our front door.
I know Shari, isn't that so sad about Walmart's fabric! We had a new WM move in about 10 miles from our home. I was loving the new store look, until I realized there was hardly any craft section and I was disheartened when I found out no fabric. =[ I work at Hobby Lobby and they have a fairly big selection of fabric so I get my fabric fix from there the two days a week that I work. I'm a homespun lovin' girl and they have lots of it! So I always use my 40% off coupon on fabric, it's wonderful!
I keep my snowmen out through January also. Last year was the first year I decorated for Valentine's and Easter. It was fun! I have a holiday tree that I keep out year round and change with the holidays.
You are very talented, girl! I'm loving all the wonderful things you are making.
Have a delightful day~
